There’s always a moment for every grade in our school to have a short trip with the intention of escaping from the busy schedule for a while and tighter our friendship. After coping with exams and tasks the school gave us, going in a trip seems to be a bright idea. It is rare for us to travel elsewhere with friends. So when the opportunity was offered, we most likely took it. Although, there were a few friends who decided not to come along.
This year, we, the 12 grade went to Bali. It was a seven-day trip including the ride on the bus. The ride was thirty-six hour long. The route we chose is from Bandung straight to Jogjakarta then Probollinggo, Situbondo, We crossed the sea by a ferri at a port in Banyuwangi. We arrived in Gilimanuk, then went for another four hour drive to Denpasar.
When we arrived at the hotel, we cheered and thanked God for blessing our ride. Teachers distributed the card for each room immediately. It was thirty nine past nine thirty in the night so we literally didn’t do anything but taking a shower and resting in our rooms, but some energized people went to a diner nearby or even visited the local store. Just like them, I went to McDonald’s with the other three. Oh, before going any further, Ms. Surjati had warned us if we wanted to go somewhere in the free time, it had to be at least four of us. That’s like a way to prevent something bad from happenning.
In the morning, we all woke up early to eat breakfast. Then, we went to Tanjung Benoa to play water sports. It was my favorite. The teachers let us pick what we wanted to play. There were so many choices, I chose Banana Boat and Donut Boat. The boys chose to play parasailing first. There were seven persons who went to the white sand island nearby to see animals. The other girls were refusing to play at first since they were worried about their hair and undergarments. But in the end, they all decided to play and it was nice to play together. I kind of regret I didn’t try the flying shoes thing. But well, there’s always next time.
After eating our lunch, we went to Garuda Wisnu Kencana. We were exhausted yet excited at the same time. We watched the progress of the statue and were amazed by it. The place was huge and really good for photography. We were actually scheduled to visit Pasar Sukowati but majority of us refused and decided to go to Dreamland Beach instead. The trip for the day was exhausting. We had our dinner at Jimbaran. It was new to me, eating dinner while looking out to the beautiful beach. We literally had dinner on the beach while feeling the warm sand on our toes. Then, we went back to the hotel and had our free time. Oh, the teachers had announced the curfew for us was around ten pas thirty. If we had got back to the hotel above the specified hour, we would surely have got grounded.
The next morning was another journey. We went straight to Bali Classic Centre. It was a place to know Bali in general. The tour guide showed us the traditional dances and even invited us to join the dancers. Five of my friends were invited to dance and although they danced awkwardly, it was worth a show. After that, we had our lunch in Kintamani Restaurant which had the most delicious food ever, then continued our trip to Krisna Shop where we bought things for our beloved family back home.
The next day was Sunday. We started the day by going to church. We attended a sunday service at GBI Rock. Then, we went to Saras Restaurant to have our lunch. Right after that, we don’t want to waste any time we had left. We visited Pura Ulun Danu Beratan and it was gorgeous. The pure is located right beside a huge lake so there is no doubt the landscape is amazing. We took photos together then went to the hotel. We realized it was our last day in Bali. So we spent our time taking pictures, walking around Bali with loved ones, just making sweet memories with high school sweethearts.
Nobody wanted the next day. But it was time to say bye-bye to the gorgeous island. We packed our bags then loaded them to the bus. We chose the most comfortable seats then off we went to Bandung. We stopped by Jogja to shop on the famous Malioboro Street and of course, to eat. Then we continued our long ride home.
Going to Bali is an unforgettable moment for me. It was fun to have a trip with school friends. I hope whatever we all had in Bali will always be a reminder that high school memories never end.
